Cape Fear House

@ 216 West Bay Street

Life is good from the front porches of the Cape Fear House. Those porches offer a breathtaking view of the Cape Fear River, from which its original builder, Thomas Mann, ventured out to run the Union blockade more than 150 years ago. He built the house out of local longleaf pine and the original wood remains one of the luxuries of this beautiful home. Remodeled in 2015, our 4200 ft.² home features original heart pine flooring, double front porches, 5 spacious bedrooms sleeping up to 13 people, 3 1/2 baths, den, living room, dining room and kitchen.

Located on the riverfront in Southport, the day starts and ends on the front porches. Sunrise over the Cape Fear River is best enjoyed with a cup of coffee watching the Ibis leaving Battery Island and flying inland to spend the day. You really can hear the rush of the wind over their wings as they travel overhead. Our home is within leisurely walking distance of very fine restaurants, antique shops, art galleries and historic sites located in Southport.
